Director's Corner: Promises made. Promises kept.

June 25, 2026

When Sacramento County voters approved Measure A, they approved a local commitment to reduce congestion, improve safety, and expand travel choices through a specific list of projects that serve communities throughout the county.

That commitment to delivering these projects produced results.

Measure A has helped complete more than $1.5 billion in major transportation projects across Sacramento County, including local freeway interchanges, major arterial roadway improvements, regional bus and carpool lanes, and transit investments. Measure A has provided more than $328 million toward completed capital projects and helped leverage more than $729 million in grant funding for those improvements.

Measure A has helped deliver completed projects to improve mobility, access, safety, and travel reliability throughout Sacramento County. These completed investments include:

  • 5 freeway interchange projects that improve access and address key congestion points.
  • 15 local arterial and roadway projects that strengthen connections between neighborhoods, job centers, schools, parks, and regional destinations.
  • 3 transit investments that expand mobility options and supported a more balanced transportation system.
  • 3 regional bus/carpool lane projects that improv reliability for transit riders, carpools, and other higher-occupancy vehicles.

Together, these completed projects reflect the core purpose of Measure A: local transportation dollars dedicated to local transportation improvements.

They also demonstrate the value of local funding as a foundation for outside investment. Measure A has helped Sacramento County at large, and its partner agencies compete for state and federal grants, match outside funds, and deliver projects that would be difficult or impossible to complete with local dollars alone.

STA does not build these projects by itself. Delivery depends on strong partnerships with Sacramento County, the cities, SacRT, Caltrans, SACOG, and other regional partners. STA’s role is to help ensure voter-approved funds are allocated, managed, leveraged, and reported in a way that supports delivery and maintains public trust.

Measure A is not about what is planned. It is also about what has been delivered.

Completed projects across Sacramento County show that voter-approved transportation funding has made a visible difference: improved interchanges, expanded transit, better regional travel options, and stronger local roadway connections.

Promises made. Promises kept. Measure A will continue delivering transportation solutions for Sacramento County.

We’re Built for That!
