In 1991, the Sacramento Abandoned Vehicle Service Authority (SAVSA) was created to combat the growing problem of abandoned vehicles on both private and public property. The STA Board of Directors also serves as the SAVSA governing board.
Measure C
The current SAVSA program expired in April 2022. The Governing Board approved placing a tax measure on the June 2022 ballot to reinstate the program for another ten years.
The final election results for Measure C were received on July 12, 2022. While the Measure did receive a majority of the vote it did fail to meet the two-thirds voter approval requirement with a 57.7% voter approval.
Staff is continuing to work on possible options to reinstate the SAVSA program.
